Professional Website Design For Businesses
The essentials are pretty obvious…
1. You need a website Domain Name. A unique domain name or “URL” is your address on the internet. You can put up a site on free hosting or even paid hosting plans without a domain name, but you own unique domain name provides extra branding for your site and makes it easier for people to remember the URL.
2. You need website Hosting. If the domain name is the address then hosting is the “house” where your website and all the Web pages reside. While it’s possible to build a website on your personal computer and never move it online, it would be pointless. No one but you will ever be able to see it. So you must find a Web hosting provider.
3. You must have professional Website Design. This is where so many businesses make huge mistakes! They put up some info and expect it to be found on the search engines by customers. Websites must be built with search engines in mind from the ground up. SEO (search engine optimization) must be an integral part of the design process right from the beginning.
Because of my yellow page experience and business background, I look at having a website as being like buying a yellow page ad.
Would you buy a yellow page ad in another city?
If you build a website without optimizing it for search engines (SEO), it is like buying a yellow page ad and not specifying what city you would like it to appear in.
You may have a great ad that is somewhere out there in any one of a thousand different directories in a hundred different cities with not much hope of ever being seen by the customers in your city.
Make sure your ad (or your website) is in the proper place to be found by your target market.
Would you buy an ugly ineffective yellow page ad?
In addition to having the foundation of search engine optimization from the beginning, great website design is essential. Again think of a buying yellow page ad.
Once you have your ad in the right directory in your city ready to be found by your target market, you absolutely must have an appealing motivating design and layout. The ad (or your website) has to look good and have the information in it that consumers are looking for.
So many businesses have terrible looking websites. They may be getting traffic (people viewing the website) but the style and design are so poor or it lacks essential content that people are turned off to that business.
Make sure you have an attractive design and valuable content that motivates customers to do buiness with you.
